CD/DVD Checks The CD/DVD Checks protections is the
most common protections used. It works by checking if the CD/DVD is available
or not in the drive. If you burn the game with the protection on it and it
has not been copied properly then you will get the "NO CD Found,
Please insert the correct CD" or a similar error message. CD checks
is not really a CD protection but more just a code embedded in the games executable
file which detects if the games CD is present or not.
Detection Of The Protection It
can be difficult to detect this
protection, physically, but if you use a utility such as ClonyXXL
or one of the many protection detection tools from
our Game Copy Protection Identifying Tools
to detect if CD Checks is being used on the
game. Another method which you can use to find out if it is being
used, is to analyze the disk and check to see if any other protections are
on it. If the are none then it is probable that CD Checks is being
used. Burning/Backup Solution
There are several different methods you
can use to successfully burn/backup your game, as follows:
You
can use CloneCD to successfully burn the
game. Use ClonyXXL to scan the game,
it will then tell you what protection is being used on the game (CD Checks)
and the correct settings to use in CloneCD
to successfully backup the game. You can also use Alcoholer
protection scanner and Alcohol 120%
burning software. Use Alcoholer to
scan the game, it will then tell you what protection is being used on the
game (CD Checks) and the correct settings to use in Alcohol
120% to successfully backup the game. BlindWrite
can also successfully burn a game with this protection on it. Or you can use a No-CD or a Fixed
Exe file from the PC Game Fixes.
You can also use Un-CD
Check which removes some of the CD checks from a lot of the older
games before 2001. Won't work with all games but a lot of the popular ones.
